If you’re thinking about visiting Peace Haven, we know it can feel a little awkward--
especially if church isn’t normally your thing or if it’s been a long time since you’ve been to one.
We want you to know this up front:
You are welcome here, just as you are. No pressure. No expectations. No pretending. Consider yourself family!
When You Arrive:
When you walk in, you’ll see a few friendly faces ready to help if you want it. You won’t be called out or put on the spot. If you’d rather come in quietly and sit down, that’s perfectly okay too. Make yourself at home!
What Should I Wear?
There’s no dress code. Most people wear jeans, shorts, casual shirts, t-shirts, or dress clothes. Wear what’s comfortable—we promise you won’t feel out of place. However, we do ask that you please dress modestly in whatever you wear.
Bible Translation:
At Peace Haven, we desire that you use the translation you are comfortable with. Many members, including our Pastor, use the ESV (English Standard Version). If you choose to use the KJV, NKJV, NIV, NLT, ASV, or any other translation truly based on the original manuscripts, that’s great! What matters most is that you are in the Word and learning!
What Is the Service Like?
Our service is relaxed and easy to follow, even if you’ve never been to church before. Services last about an hour and include modern music, traditional hymns, prayer, and a practical message. We rotate weeks between praise/worship music and hymns. We feel hymns are still important and are a great reminder that the Word stands the test of time!
The Message:
Messages focus on real life—stress, family, hope, forgiveness, and learning to trust God in everyday situations. We usually study a book of the Bible at a time, as we feel that to live the Word, we must know the Word! Questions are always welcome!
Giving & Communion:
You are not expected to give. However, if you feel led to do so, we have an offering box and a giving kiosk in the hall. We intentionally choose not to make “taking an offering” a part of the service. We do, however, remind the church family from time to time what their giving is supporting. Communion, when offered, is explained and optional.
Kids & Families:
Children are welcome to stay in the service. Each Sunday, Pastor Timothy has a “word of the week” for the children to listen for. They, along with Miss Shannon, keep track of how many times the word is mentioned and compare numbers at the end of the service. They receive tickets that can be used at our G.A.T.E. store once per month. Timothy also provides questions pertaining to the message for the kids to answer (usually 2–3 questions). We also have a nursery available as well.
After the Service:
Some people stay and talk; others head out. Both are fine. Have questions for the Pastor or Elders? Feel free to ask!
You’re Invited:
If you’re seeking deep knowledge of the Bible, community, or a place to just breathe for an hour, we’d love for you to visit.
